Last weekend I hosted another party for houseparty.com. This time we got two free Wii games to try with our friends, Wii's Just Dance 2, and Wii Just Dance Kids. Can I just say that these are honestly my most favorite Wii games ever, seriously, I'm not just saying that because I got them for free. My HORRIBLE pictures are proof of our fun party. Why, you say? Because when I have a fun party I have the worst time doing the hostess and photographer thing at the same time, so when the pictures are bad you know I was having too much fun to worry about taking pictures. Oh well, we still had a good time.
In both of these games the players hold the Wii-mote in their hand and follow along to the dancers on the screen. This is so much fun, and quite hilarious. Before the party we had fun playing them as a family, and can I just say that I rocked Wham's "Wake me up before you go go..." Mostly because I was playing against Travis, but still, I wasn't all that bad. My kids were actually quite impressed with my scores. One of my favorite things about these games is that you're having so much fun with them and laughing at yourself and each other that you don't even notice the exercise you're getting at the same time.
Before the party Hallie and I had fun picking out props for all the girls to wear while dancing. We picked up these fun wigs, hats and scarves, and they really added to the party's theme. I also got a lot of fun prizes for the girls to have after they danced. I think the kids appreciated the extra touches. And at one point almost all the girls at the party were up dancing, regardless of whether or not they were actually holding a Wii-mote. And can I just say that I think the Mom's had just as much fun as the girl's did? Oh there was Mom dance time too, I was just forbidden to take proof, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some serious Mom moves going on. These games would be really fun at a New Year's Eve party, regardless of age.
If you have a young girl's party (or big girl) in your future I'd highly recommend these as party games. Hallie who is 7 likes the Just Dance Kids slightly better because the dances are a little bit slower and easier to follow, but both are really fun. My only problem with the Wii Just Dance 2 is that there are a few songs I wish they would have edited the lyrics to, oh well.
So aside from the fact that I got these for free (and I don't get anything else for telling you this, I promise) I would definitely recommend these for Christmas gifts. Even my 8 year-old-son enjoys them (not at a party full of girls, but he played all week with his just his sister). In fact there are quite a few songs geared at boys as well as girls.
So if you're feeling convinced that you want to get these for your kids for Christmas, leave me a comment. I have a few extra coupons for $5 off the game, and free 3-day shipping from GameStop. I'll give the coupon codes to the first 8 commenters. Good luck!
